A voice which entwined the whole world by its music, A voice which rejoiced even a countryside who know nothing about the music, A voice which heaved the attraction of people from all over the world! Bharatha Ratna M S Subbulakshmi, the possessor this much privileged voice! Its my pleasure to commemorate The Legend in her centenary and to pay tribute of love to her contribution to the music world! The recitalist started her journey of music under the tutelage of Semmangudi Srinivaasa Iyer where she expertised in Carnatic Music. Within a short span she reached heights and staged hundreds and hundreds of performances. Later she got an opportunity to act in films and debuted in a movie named “Sevasadan”. We haven’t seen Bhaktha Meera but she brought Meera through her excellent acting in “ Meera” and justified the role. “Kaatrinile varum geetham……” an immortal song in the movie sung by herself reached even to remote villages and become a huge hit. The song became favorite for millions of people and stayed in their heart. Even after an half a century of its release, it is widely being a favorite for current generation and performed in concerts and Tv Shows continuously.
She has staged thousands of concerts all over the world. Sung in wide number of languages. She is the First singer from India who concerted in UN General Assembly. She is the First woman Singer who got The Highest civil Award of Government of India“ Bharatha Ratna “. Got hundreds of awards, honors and rewards from wide number of organizations. The awards and honors got privileged by reaching the glorious hands of Legendary Singer. She not only attracted audience through her music but also through her appearance. The pleasant and holistic appearance and sarees wore by her never failed to attract the spectators. A special color saree which she used to wore is named after her as “M S Blue” The great singer, who is disciple of lord Venkateshwara had sung huge number of songs on him which are immortal. Suprapadam which she recorded is the one which wakes up The deity Balaji of Tirumala. She not only captivated the hearts of human but also the heart of Divine. The fantabulous singer who expunged our sorrow through her music will live in our hearts forever. Lets celebrate The Pride of India, Queen of Music Bharatha Ratna M S Subbulakshmi on her centenary !
