On the celebration of Navaratri!
The city is all set for the celebration of Navaratri! The folks are fervent to welcome Durga to their residents. Navaratri, a nine day celebration tailed by vijadashami prominently rejoiced by the Hindu community across the country. The fest is dedicated to superior Hindu deity Durga! On these auspicious festive a special way of celebration followed across south India is by statuette the effigy of deities commonly referred as “Kolu” The inhabitants used to troupe and celebrate the Golu by chanting jabas, and humming bhajans. Kolu is famous in the residents of Mylapore and Triplicane and a resident stated that “we are so excited to celebrate Navaratri, on these 9 days we used to stage Bhajans, dramas of epics and other harmonious musical performances and rejoice it by inviting friends and relatives to the carnival”.
Bomma Kolu “The Doll Festival” is celebrated in huge number of homes, temples, offices etc., The Kolu starts with Ganapathy pooja where dolls and idols of different deities are arranged in well versed manner. Few people used to array the idols with special themes, few used to impose segments of epics like Ramayana, Mahabarata to induce moral values. Since dolls are used the carnival fascinates children and cheers them and also marks their heart with moral values. One of the ancient celebration filled with legacy has hundreds of noble reasons. The festive gives an opportunity to the communal to group together in their busy schedule and enjoy the carnival with their loved ones and also an excellent opportunity for the children and households to showcase their talent.
